Avatar

I went to see Avatar last night. It was a great movie. I am a bit of a videophile (is that a word?) and this one is definitely a keeper. There are so many movies I want to see. Letters to Juliet, Remember Me, When in Rome, among the many. I love movies. I really enjoyed the theater in Burley. It's really nice. The seats are very comfortable and the managers very nice. Much nicer than the other local theater. Well, maybe I'll be able to see a movie tomorrow night. I'd go tonight but I think I'd fall asleep.

Update

When I originally started this blog I had no idea what I was doing. That hasn't changed much. However, many of the details of my blog have changed because when I began it my husband was still alive and I only had one grandchild. I now have no husband, at least not here on earth standing next to me, and I have almost three grandchildren.
Yeah! It's been that long ago. I do have a better idea of what I am doing now and will try to fill in the details of the last year or so with some insight for others of you who may have similar life experiences.
I think it's probably best if I hit the high points first, then fill in. My grandson Kyson was born last year in December. He came the day after Christmas in 2008 in the worst snow storm of that season. It took me two hours to get to my daughter's side at the hospital, following a snowplow and spinning around in the snow. Kyson is the cutest little guy. He's just over a year now and so sweet. He loves his Nana and has begun to say a few words. He loves his big brother Kenyan and Kenyan is generally very nice to him and loves to play with him and make him laugh. Kenyan is nearly 2 and a half and absolutely the smartest little boy on the planet. He talks a lot now and appropriately places words and thoughts so that you know he knows what he is saying. I love to converse with him. He will even sit still for a whole story now.
The next highpoint was the death of my husband. It was very sudden. He had several health issue going on which just altogether caused his death. He was only 51 and died on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009. I still haven't lost the feeling that I am married still and I guess I probably won't. It's hard sometimes but I have tried to be brave and keep going. What else can you do really? I miss him terribly--He was my best friend as well as my husband. I have had a lot to deal with trying to get everything from the farm side of our lives cleared up, but things are going well in that quarter.
So after Kelly passed I decided to take the job as Special Ed. Director at our school. I love the job and I love the kids. It's fun to get to work with a wide range of kids instead of one age group like you do in a classroom. I also, believe it or not, love the paperwork. Course, I won't love it so much the first time I really screw it up, but that hasn't happened--yet! I am in the process of getting my endorsement for the job which entails studying a lot and taking 3 different tests. I am also taking a Saturday class in math. Luckily I have a whole table full of great friends (co-workers) to sit with or being in class on a Saturday would make me absolutely deranged.
I have made a few changes to my life. I bought a bedroom set, traded my huge Dodge Ram pickup for a Mini-Cooper (the car of my dreams), been to a Vampire Baseball Game and done some minor rearranging and remodeling at home. I have lots of remodeling projects in my head but they will have to wait for--you guessed it--money. If you like decorating and remodeling I'd like to suggest the blog: Beautiful Living by Dagny, my Norwegian daughter. If I can figure out how to do it I'll put her URL in here. That's probably more information than you wanted on me for now.

Catch up

Wow, so much has happened since my last blog. I guess I just don't know how to use it effectively. I'll learn. I need to add hepworth happenings here as well. Lots going on. So guess I'll have to start working on this.

Hectic week

Last week was a hectic week. I was at the Murtaugh Gym for the Volleyball Tourney along with Shala and many others who volunteered their time. (Thanks to everyone who supports our school) I was there from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and about the same on Monday and Tuesday. Then on Wednesday and Thursday I had parent conferences after a full day of teaching. We took the students who made their AR goals to Skateland and Arctic Circle on Thursday. I was so proud of my class, everyone made their goal! I love my students They are a good bunch of children. Very talented and some extremely good readers!

In addition to being at the tourney on Saturday I also had my grandson overnight. He is such a little joy. He's 11 months and is just learning to use his tongue when he "talks". He mimicks adults and so when he sees our tongue flick in and out to say the letter l and other letters he does that too. He is trying to talk and says "nana, dada, mama, ni-night, yes and no very well. He thinks watching a person shake their head yes, is hilarious and he loves to be tickled and gigle when he's tired. You can squeeze his knee and at the back of his thigh and it throws him into fits and giggles.

I'm doing some remodeling. I bought a used (in good shape) couch for the family room upstairs. I got a new area rug in the bedroom, dining room and family room and I am taking the bowflex and the ab lounger up there to work out as well.

I am feeling old. Sore back, neck, etc. and I noticed I have a ton of wrinkles. Oh Well!
